Physical therapy is medical care focused on evaluating and treating pain, injury, or movement limitations, and may involve diagnosis-driven treatment plans and documentation.
Wellness Services are non-diagnostic and restorative in nature. They focus on supporting movement, relaxation, and nervous system regulation, and are not billed or provided as physical therapy.
Under New Jersey’s direct access law, patients may receive evaluation and treatment for musculoskeletal conditions from a licensed physical therapist without a physician’s referral. This allows you to begin care promptly, while your therapist thoroughly assesses your needs and determines whether medical referral or additional clearance is appropriate.
All physical therapy services are provided in accordance with the New Jersey State Physical Therapy Practice Act (P.L. 1983, c.296) and the regulations of the State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Services are delivered under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist, as defined by N.J.S.A. 45:9-37.13.
